Kameshwar Singh Darbhanga Sanskrit University was founded in the year 1961. The University was state recognized University. The university is located in Bihar in Darbhanga district. The University is located in northern Bihar almost 100 km from Patna. The University is well connected by roads and railways. The nearby railway station is Darbhanga railway station. The University's jurisdiction prevails over entire State of Bihar. The university is a deemed university and UGC recognized university. It is also the member of Association of Indian Universities (AIU). The University provides courses in Graduate and Postgraduate level. The University also provides courses at intermediate level also. The University has outstanding collections of nearly 5562 manuscripts which are rarely found including six illustrated manuscripts of the Ramayana, Gitagovinda, Srimadbhagavata and Durga Saptasati etc. The University also has few manuscripts of Vidyapati. The University holds a proud possession when Mahesh Thakur composed the manuscripts in their own scripts. Kameshwar Singh Darbhanga Sanskrit University is one of the universities promoting ancient Indian culture in this modern India. The University has conserved the ancient culture of India. The courses offered by the institution are Up Shastri (IA/ HS), Shastri (BA), Acharya (MA), Palyacharya, Pustakalaya Vigyan Shastri (B. Lib. Sc), Ayurvedacharya (BAMS), Vidyavaridhi (Ph.D) and Vidyavachaspati (D. Lit). The Institution receives students not only from Bihar but from other state also. The institute also promotes extracurricular activities in the University. The University takes care of the academic as well as social development of students.
