Maulana Mazharul Haque Arabic and Persian University

Maulana Mazharul Haque Arabic and Persian University was established in the year 1998. The University is located in Bailey road, Patna. It was established by the Bihar state government under the provision of Bihar State Universities Act 1976. The center of the University is Patna and its jurisdiction extends throughout Bihar. The University has been given notification from Department of Human Resource Development to improve the education standard in Arabic and Persian language and also to introduce other branches of education with collaboration with other university in Bihar.

Although the University was established in 1998 but it had remained non functioning body till January 2008. The University has introduced 5 diploma and 4 degree level courses from the session 2008-09. The courses and admission procedure are well approved through Hon'ble Chancellor vide Governor's secretariat letter no. MMHU-15/12/2005-1482/GS(1) Dated 28 April 2008.

The courses introduced, provides several options for students to choose various career. The new University under the supervision of Vice Chancellor Mr Mukhtaruddin Ahmad has become a fully functioned University. The University has started its First Academic Session from July 2008. The students took admission to job oriented vocational courses through the Knowledge Resource Centre Network (KRCN) which were established in the various districts of Bihar.a proposal has been passed to develop a Centre of Excellence in Oriental Studies.

However some of the major achievements of the University are Member Governing Body, State Resource Centre, Member Governing Body Mahavir Arogya Sansthan, Advisory / Board Bihar Industries Association Patna, Member Executive Council Nalanda Open University, Patna and Member of learned bodies like IIPA, IEA, & IALE.

The University has not flourished as it was expected to be. Urgent steps should be taken by the government as well as faculty members to improve the education standard of the University. The present status need to be enhanced.
