School education builds foundation to better society that is why it is given utmost priority. Bihar has been neglected in terms of education from many decades however recent trends show that state and central government are making firm efforts to revive this state in terms of better education. It is struggling in regain it past glory of being one of the most famous ancient learning centres.Bihar greatly lacks in basic infrastructure for education that is why it becomes very difficult for students to go to school. Due to low literacy rate and poverty parents fail to understand importance of education and ask their children to work to earn for their family.
Rural education plays important part in state development such that there are many programs are being run for education development. There many programs like aganwadi, mid day meal to encourage both parents and children to attend school. Many NGO have opened schools for educating children. There are many missionary schools, madarasa and ashrams teaching young children to become better citizen.
There are three types of schools in Bihar government run, semi government run and privately run. There are more than 71832 schools in Bihar. State run schools are spreading all across the state from smaller villages to lager cities. These schools ensure better and affordable education to each and every boy and girl. The medium of education is Hindi. All these schools follow Regulation from Bihar state examination board. There are primary, middle and higher secondary schools which make sure that students get quality education. Semi government schools are those which have both government as well have private management governing body. These schools may or may not follow state examination board.
Private schools carry their own administration and governing body. There are many schools which follow state examination board as well as Central board of examination CBSC or Indian School Certificate Examination board ICSE. These schools follow English medium for teaching children but Hindi and Urdu medium schools are widely prevalent. With diligent efforts from both government and private bodies number of school drop outs has been decreasing significantly. There have also seen decrease in migration of school level students to other more developed states.
