Jamia Hamdard University - Delhi

The history of Jamia Hamdard begins with the foundation of a small Unani clinic in the year 1906 by Hakeem Hafiz Abdul Majeed, a famous scholar of of Unani System of Medicine of that time. He named the clinic "Hamdard" which means sympathy for all. Even after the independence, Hakeem Abdul Hameed had the dream to set up educational institution to promote Unani medicines for curing diseases.

In the year 1989, it was established as Jamia Hamdard University. The University is located in New Delhi. It is Public, Deemed University. The University is UGC recognized University and also the member of Association of Indian University.

The chancellor of the University is Mr. Saiyid Hamid and Vice-Chancellor Dr. Ghulam Nabi Qazi. The Registrar of the University is Mr. Naushad Alam and others administrative members. The efforts of these administrative members have helped to lift the status of the University.

The University offers courses both at undergraduate and postgraduate level. The University provides bachelor degree in Technology, Computer Application, Science, Pharmacy, Unani Medicine and Surgery, Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Medical Laboratory Techniques, Emergency and Trauma Care Technology and nursing course and others. Diploma courses in General Nursing & Midwifery, X-Ray & ECG Techniques, Operation Theatre Techniques, Dialysis Techniques, Pharmacy, Ophthalmic OT Techniques and New Economy Skills.the University provides certificate courses in Ward Attendan, Attar, Unani Dispense and Unani Medicine.

The post graduation courses are Master of Arts (M.A.), M.A. in Human Rights, MBA, MCA, and Master of Technology in Computer Science, M. Sc. in Computer Science, Nursing, Clinical Research and others. Master of Pharmacy, Master of Physio-Therapy , M.D. (Unani) and Master of Occupational Therapy . The University also offers Ph.D. Courses in Faculty of Islamic Studies & Social Sciences, Pharmacy, Science and Management Studies & Information Technology.

Although the University Islamic origin it has helped in preserving the culture of India. The University has maintained peace with the modern world.
