Vinoba Bhave University - Hazaribagh

Vinoba Bhave University originated from Ranchi University on the 17th of September, 1992. The University is located in Hazaribagh, Jharkhand. It is about 100 km away from Ranchi. After the division the area of the Ranchi University was halved. The urgent need for the establishment of the University was to reduce the work load of Ranchi University as well as to cater the growing need of education in the locality.

The University is UGC recognized. The University is also a member of Association of Commonwealth Universities, London. The University offers high standards of teaching and research works.

The Chancellor of the University is governor of Jharkhand SHRI M.O.H Farook and Vice Chancellor Dr.Jyoti Lal Oraon. The administrative members are Dean of student’s welfare Dr. Kamala Prasad, Proctor Dr. M. Raziuddin, Registrar Dr. E. N. Siddiqui, Inspector of Colleges (Arts & Commerce) Dr. S. K. Sinha, Inspector of Colleges (Science) Dr. L. P. Mishra, Finance Officer Dr. N. K. Sinha, Controller of Exams Dr. O. P. Mahto and others.

The university offers various courses at the undergraduate and post-graduate levels. Humanities comprises of Anthropology, Economics, Geography, History, Home Science, Philosophy, Psychology and Political Science. Science comprises of Botany, Chemistry, Mathematics, Geology, Physics and Zoology. In arts are English, Hindi, Sanskrit and Urdu. The post graduation courses are MCA, MBA, M.Tech, M. Ed., Master of Biotechnology and M.Phil. The University also offers doctorate programs.
