Banaras Hindu University - Uttar Pradesh

Located in Varanasi, India Benaras Hindu University has a class of it’s own with its 1350 acre campus and 128 teaching departments, regarded as the largest university in Asia it houses students from all parts of the country irrespective of caste, creed or color.

The university has 3 premier institutes of pillar like stature, Institute of Agricultural Science (IAS), Institute of Medical science (IMS) and Institute of Technology (IT-BHU). Apart from these there are 124 departments, DBT interdisciplinary school of life sciences, 14 faculties, 7 advanced study centers, 10 special assistance programs, 4 interdisciplinary centers, research centers, division of science with robust Zoology, Geology, Botany, Physics, Biochemistry, Bioinformatics, Chemistry, departments.

The faculties of social science, humanities, commerce and management are revered and ranked as the very best of the country and BHU is considered to be the pioneer of Indian management studies, since it was the first institute to start MBA program in India way back in 1960.

BHU has a large campus with 55 hostels and India’s tallest Shiva temple, known as Vishwanath Temple, which symbolizes successfully the fusion of age old ancient wisdom with society’s quest for further progression.

A huge central library with over 1.3 million volumes stands majestically, embellishing this citadel of learning and there is a flying club with an air strip too that adds another feather in the cap of BHU. There is a museum called Bharat Kala Bhavan in BHU reputed for its repository of rare collections and a 927 bed hospital with medical and Ayurvedic College as its extension. Sports facilities are provided for students and there is a printing press within the campus to make the picture complete.

Another new campus is coming up shortly in Mirzapur district UP spanning an area of 2700 acres.

All India level examination is conducted for aspirants seeking admission in BHU, and UET is conducted for admission in undergraduate courses, PET for post graduate courses and CRET for research level courses.

Management students are short listed from IIM-CAT examination, and engineering and medical admission pertains to intake from IIT-JEE. There are certificate programs, Diploma courses, Degree courses, Post Graduate courses, and Research and Doctoral Level courses in BHU. BHU has some affiliated colleges too namely:
