Departments
IIT Kharagpur has 19 academic departments, 8 multi-disciplinary centres and 13 schools of excellence. O Centre for Ocean, River, Atmosphere and Land Science (CORALs) is the recently established academic and research department of earth sciences.

Academics

Undergraduate Education
IIT KGP offers Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech.), Bachelor of Architecture (B.Arch.) and the 5 year integrated Master of Science.

Postgraduate and PhD
Master of Technology (M.Tech.), Master of Business Administration (MBA), and Master of Sciences (M.Sc.), there are also some specialized programs including Postgraduate Diploma in Information Technology (PGDIT), Master in Medical Science and Technology (MMST), Master of City Planning (MCP), Postgraduate Diploma in Intellectual Property Law (PGDIPL), and Postgraduate Diploma in Maritime Operation & Management (PGDMOM). The institute offers M.S. programme; and Dual Degree programs that integrate undergraduate and postgraduate studies in chosen pairs of branches and specializations.

Continuing Education Programme(CEP)

Unique to IITKGP is CEP for qualified engineers and scientist to expose them with new technologies and developments, CEP on behalf of IITKGP manages SIMAP (Small Industries Management Assistant Programme) and STUP (Skill-cum-Technology Up gradation Programme).
